A beautiful little 12-day-old boy…what an honor to spend time with this wonderful family!
One of the last big swells of the season at Pipeline, late in the afternoon. Lots of colors.
The Quicksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau Contest at Waimea Bay was a no-go today, but there was plenty of beautiful shorebreak to shoot and there are still six weeks left in the holding period. Contest or no contest, there were plenty of big waves to admire.
Congratulations to John John Florence!

A twist on the usual vantage point for the Friday Night Fireworks in Waikiki, overlooking the Ala Wai Canal.
Five of my favorites from our trip back in June to Tavarua, Fiji.
A small collection of black & white photos from my recent trip to Prince Edward Island, Canada.
The All-Stars versus Dallas Derby Devils. Final score 87-49 for Dallas, it was a great match and the fans (myself included) LOVED it! Want to know more about local Roller Derby? Visit their website: http://www.pacificrollerderby.com/

A few of my very favorite photos from our recent trip to Ha’atafu, Tonga.
Wedge-tailed shearwaters, native to Hawai’i, are nesting out on the Mokolua Islands these days…
Snapping some shots of this green anole lizard almost made me late for my meeting today. 99.9% of the time I only see brown anoles around here, but in the last week or so I’ve seen three green ones. I spent some time watching him (her?) change colors from flat brown to a tan gray [...]
A few photos from a recent beach wedding with some very photogenic friends…

This past weekend wrapped up the 34th annual Buffalo Big Board Surfing Classic contest held at Makaha. A selection of photos from the first weekend (bullyboarding, alaia surfing, paipo boarding, tandem surfing etc) is on Chad’s site at http://indeepphoto.com/?p=916 And last but not least…
Some recent experimental shots from the Volcom Pipeline Pro on the day of the semi-finals. Experimental on a couple of different levels: although the waves were amazing, it wasn’t a particularly spectacular day for light and so I decided to spend more time post-processing.
17-year-old John John Florence made it to the semi- finals in the Volcom Pipeline Pro. In 2005, he was the youngest competitor ever in the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing.
A recent photo snapped as I was on my way to check out the shorebreak at Waimea.
A 2 minute video I made before the Eddie Aikau contest began on December 8. As much as I was watching the peak, it was difficult to not be hypnotized by the shorebreak…
Happy December! It was an especially beautiful moonrise over the Mokulua Islands tonight.
